Eastleigh Liberal Democrats
Eastleigh Liberal Democrats represent the Liberal Democrats across the local government area of Eastleigh Borough Council in Hampshire. This area includes the major settlements of Eastleigh, Hedge End, Chandler's Ford, alongside numerous other unique towns and villages, stretching from the southern boundary at the River Hamble, to Chandler's Ford in the north.
Eastleigh has endured as one of the strongest Liberal Democrat bases of local support. We currently control 34 out of 39 seats on the Borough Council, alongside significant representation on local town and parish councils. Lib Dem controlled Eastleigh Borough Council was named Council of the Year in a UK-wide awards scheme recognising excellence in service delivery in 2022.
First elected in 1992, David Chidgey was the first Liberal Democrat MP to represent the area - he was later elevated to the House of Lords as Baron Chidgey of Hamble-le-Rice. Liberal Democrats held the parliamentary seat until 2015.
