Prad Bains appointed Chair of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Authority
Liberal Democrat Councillor Prad Bains has been appointed Chair of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Authority.
Prad, who represents Eastleigh South on Hampshire County Council, will chair the Authority as it oversees the delivery of fire and rescue services across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire & Rescue Authority is responsible for setting the strategic direction of the service, scrutinising its performance and ensuring that local communities continue to receive an effective and resilient fire and rescue service.
Prad has been a strong voice for local communities across Hamble Valley and Eastleigh, campaigning on issues including local services, the environment and safer roads.
He said: “It is a great honour to be appointed Chair of the Fire Authority. As a former on-call Hampshire firefighter this organisation is something that I truly care about, and I am determined to make a positive contribution as Chair of the Fire Authority over the year ahead, ensuring Hampshire and the Isle of Wight continues to have an efficient and effective service that helps make life safer for everyone.”
Prad’s appointment comes alongside his new role as County Councillor for Eastleigh South, following the Liberal Democrats’ successful campaign in May’s county elections.
