No County Vote as Conservatives Avoid YOU!

The Labour Government and Hampshire's Conservatives have colluded to stop you having a vote in County Council elections this May. These have now been shelved under the dubious excuse of giving residents time to respond to a fake consultation on having an elected Hampshire Mayor. Put simply, both parties don't want the embarrassment of elections and being held to account. 

The Labour Government is threatening a massive reorganisation of local councils, telling councils to put forward merger ideas, writes Lib Dem campaigner Mark Harding. The Government wants councils like Eastleigh to merge with neighbours, creating monster councils with populations of over 500,000. The County Council would be abolished. 

There has been speculation of Eastleigh being dumped into Southampton. Our Lib Dem Council has already said a Southampton-Eastleigh Council won't work. 

With strong finances and prudent budgets, the Lib Dem Borough Council has kept its Council Tax rise below inflation for the 22nd year running. Meanwhile the Conservatives have increased Hampshire's tax by an average of £70.
