Liberal Democrats retain control of Eastleigh Borough Council

Eastleigh Liberal Democrats have retained control of Eastleigh Borough Council following the May 2026 local elections.

Fifteen seats were contested across 14 wards, with Liberal Democrat candidates winning 14 of the seats.

The result means the Liberal Democrats remain firmly in control of the Borough Council, continuing our long record of delivering for residents across Eastleigh, Hedge End, Chandler’s Ford, Hamble, Netley, West End, Botley and the surrounding communities.

There were strong results for the Liberal Democrats across the borough, with residents once again putting their trust in local councillors who know their communities and work hard for them all year round.

The election was also the final scheduled Borough Council election before Eastleigh becomes part of the new shadow South West Hampshire unitary authority as a result of Local Government Reorganisation.

Eastleigh Liberal Democrats would like to thank everyone who voted Liberal Democrat, as well as the hundreds of members and volunteers who campaigned, delivered leaflets, knocked on doors and helped make the election a success.

The result provides a strong foundation for the next stage of our work, as we continue fighting for a fair deal for communities across Eastleigh.
