Hedge End South By-Election - 22nd May 2025

John

Hands off Hedge End!

With the Labour Government threatening a massive reorganisation of local government, Lib Dem Councillor John Shepherd has launched a petition to say “Hands Off Hedge End”.

The Government wants councils like Eastleigh Borough to merge with neighbours, creating monster councils with populations of over 500,000. The County Council will be abolished.

There has been speculation of Hedge End being dumped into Southampton. Our Lib Dem Council has already said a Southampton-Eastleigh Council won't work.

HANDS OFF HEDGE END!

Hands Off

On Thursday 22nd May we have a special election for our area for Eastleigh Borough Council.

John Shepherd is the Lib Dem choice to stand up for our area, replacing the much missed Jane Welsh after her sad passing. John is backed for the job by EVERY other Hedge End councillor. This election is important. It will decide who stands up for our area over the coming years.

Labour are out of this election race. They have No Borough Councillors and No chance. They came third in the vote for our MP last year, as they have done in every General Election for over 40 years! The Greens and Reform are also out of the race here.

The Conservatives have axed vital services in Hampshire - they even wanted a massive £230 tax hike - they don't deserve to win! Only the Liberal Democrats can beat the Tories in Hedge End. Labour cannot win here.

HES Team

The Lib Dems have a record of ACTION for Hedge End over decades:

  • LAUNCHED our ‘Hands off Hedge End’ campaign thanks to John Shepherd
  • PROTECTED the green gaps around Hedge End with NO new Hedge End sites in the Council's agreed Local Plan
  • REFUSED 93 flats on the Bugden's site and bought the site for a future supermarket instead
  • OPENED the Budgens car park and markets
  • ACHIEVED traffic reduction on Sunday's Hill and Heath House Lane with the new bypass
  • SECURED major investment in sports facilities at Wildern and Woodhouse Lane - now open
  • KEPT IN TOUCH with Standpoint for 40 years

ONLY the Lib Dems work for you all year every year. Hedge End needs John Shepherd elected here to stand up for YOU on our council!

John

On Thursday 22nd May, voters will have a clear choice at this by-election. They can send the Conservatives a message that they want a candidate in John who will stand up for our town and fight to protect local services.
