Eastleigh Lib Dems respond to government U-turn

Responding to the Chancellor’s announcement that the Government is abandoning its decision to abolish the 45p tax rate for higher earners, Liz Jarvis, Liberal Democrat parliamentary candidate for Eastleigh, commented:

“This is an humiliating Government U-turn which comes too late for the people across Eastleigh who are seeing their mortgage rates soar. 

“Enough is enough. It is this clear that this Conservative government has no plan, no clue and is completely out of touch. Kwarteng and Truss have already undermined any confidence we might have had in their economic agenda. Nobody voted for this in 2019 - they don't have a mandate to carry out policy which is so radical in nature, and irresponsible in practice. Kwarteng must resign.

“The corporation tax cut and the bankers bonus rise need to be scrapped too.”
