23% drop in anti-social behaviour in Hampshire – Mike Thornton


Local people will see further action to tackle anti-social behaviour in Hampshire, announced in last week's Queen's Speech.

The news comes as figures reveal that the number of incidents of anti-social behaviour across the county has already fallen by 23% since the Coalition Government came to power thanks to measures supported by the Liberal Democrats.

Boost for childcare in Hampshire – Thornton


A new £2m scheme has been launched by the Coalition Government to help boost childcare businesses and help women back into work.

People who want to set up a nursery can now apply for grants of up to £500 to help cover things like legal and insurance costs, training, equipment and adaptations to buildings. The scheme is aimed to launch up to 6,000 new childcare businesses across England.

Mike wins for Eastleigh!

Mike Thornton was elected as Eastleigh’s new MP one month ago, and he's been getting on with the job of speaking up for local people!

Our MP Mike has had an active first couple of weeks in the job, standing up for local people. Mike has already spoken in the House of Commons, represented our area at a Planning Inquiry, and held his first few "surgeries" for local residents.

Eastleigh MP Celebrates rise in local Apprentice Numbers

11th-17th March 2013 is National Apprenticeships Week and local MP Mike Thornton is celebrating the 28,000 new apprenticeships created across Hampshire since the start of the Coalition Government.

In Eastleigh alone there has been a 65% increase in apprenticeships since the last Labour Government, with more and more young people being given the opportunity to gain ‘on the job’ experience in order to learn the skills and get the experience necessary for a successful career.
