We’ve all been following the scandalous decision of Highways England to break their previous promises (again!) and not resurface the concrete parts of the M27 between Hedge End and Eastleigh. The concrete is noisy and polluting, and local residents are the ones who suffer the most. The smart motorway project was a perfect time to make good on their promises – but they haven’t just missed their chance, they’re actually laying MORE concrete! You couldn’t make it up!
That’s why, again, I – and your local Lib Dems – are pressing Highways England and the secretary of state for transport to stop ignoring our concerns, and the legitimate complaints from long-suffering residents, and finally resurface the M27 with the promised low-noise surface.

We, the undersigned, call on Highways England and the secretary of state for transport to make good on their previous promises and resurface the M27 between junctions 5 and 7 with a low-noise surface. Local residents have suffered for too long already.
