Lib Dem Councillor Tim Groves at Woodside Avenue
There was a time, just 20 years or so ago, when most people in their 20s, starting out on careers, could buy their own home. Nowadays in the south of England most under 40s have been priced out of the housing market.
Our Lib Dem Borough Council is stepping in to fill the gap.
At Woodside Avenue in Eastleigh the council has supported a development of 94 much-needed homes with good access to facilities near local schools and Places Leisure Eastleigh. They are a mix of properties, all either for social or market rents.
The Council is this spring launching a scheme where people renting will be able to use part of their rent to build up a deposit if they wish to purchase the property at a later date. Over 100 of these homes will also be provided as part of the new North Stoneham Park development.
It will give more young people a chance to reach for home ownership, without having to rely on the Bank of Mum and Dad.
