Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne and Eastleigh borough council leader Keith House were shown the new escalators linking the Swan Centre with the new extension including the cinema when they visited the site.

"The good news is that the building work is proceeding if anything a little ahead of schedule so everything is on course for the opening in early December" said Mr Huhne.

Mr Huhne is pictured here with Dee Buffone, the manager of the Swan Centre, and Cllr Keith House.

"The new centre is going to have a very positive effect on the town centre, bringing thousands of people into the town from Winchester, Chandler's Ford and Southampton. It is a great opportunity that will spearhead a revival in trade" said Mr Huhne.

"After all the years when local residents said that Eastleigh would never have a cinema again, the new complex is taking shape before our eyes. It is very exciting."
