On 13th October 2005, Chris Huhne MP published a press release which referred to a local construction company P Trant Ltd.

At the request of Trant Construction Limited (formerly P Trant Ltd), Chris Huhne MP is pleased to make it clear that he has no reason to believe that the company or its managing director have acted other than honourably in relation to contracts awarded to them through the tender process of Hampshire County council and that the contract for the regeneration of Hamble awarded to the company by Hampshire County council took place several years before any donation of funds by the company to the Conservative Association of Eastleigh in 2005. Mr Huhne also accepts that Trant Construction Ltd did not participate as a contractor in the Winchester park and ride project mentioned in the press release.
