Commenting on the announcement by Eastleigh and Test Valley South primary care trust that a contract for the provision of local facilities for rehabilitation in Valley Park has been signed, Chris Huhne, Eastleigh parliamentary candidate, said:

"The provision of new facilities to replace those already closed at the Mount is welcome, although there is still a long delay before they will come into use. Given that we were promised during the consultation process on The Mount that it would not be closed before an alternative was provided, this is disappointing.

"Moreover, some of the people who found The Mount so convenient - particularly Bishopstoke residents - will now have a double bus journey to get to the new site."
