Eastleigh's Lib Dem Council Leader Keith House this evening announced that the Borough's Council Tax would increase by just 1.5% this year.

The Council Leader's statement confirms a pledge made last year to peg tax-rises at 1% below inflation. Last week, inflation for the year to December was announced at 2.5% (RPIX).

Cllr House commented, "We said to Eastleigh residents that we would give them the certainty to plan their own finances by finding efficiency savings each year to allow us to come in below inflation. That is a promise to be kept and will mean most residents will just pay just a few pence extra each week for Borough Council services".
