Local MP Warns that Eastleigh Clubs are Missing out on Cash9.59.00am UTC (GMT +0000) Mon 24th Jan 2005
David Chidgey Liberal Democrat MP for Eastleigh, has drawn attention to the fact that many amateur sports clubs in Eastleigh are missing out on the tax benefits, gift aid and relief on business rates which they may be eligible for. Thousands of clubs across the country have yet to register with the Inland Revenue as a CASC- Community Amateur Sports Club. Registering as a CASC allows clubs to enjoy a number of tax benefits which could save vital cash. Commenting, David Chidgey said: "I urge all amateur sports clubs in Eastleigh to find out whether they are eligible to register as a CASC. The savings available could run into the thousands- money which can be well spent on changing rooms or new equipment, for instance. "Clubs should either contact the Inland Revenue by telephone on 0845 3020203 or alternatively email charities@inlandrevenue.gov.uk to find out how to register."
