Keith House, Chris Huhne and David Chidgey examine developer's plans

Local Liberal Democrats have welcomed the decision by builders Wimpey and Barratt to withdraw their planning application for 600 homes on the greenfield site at Hamble Lane opposite Tesco.

The builders learnt that Borough Council staff had been recommending refusal of the planning application, for more than ten reasons.

But all is not plain sailing - the developers have said that they intend to make changes to their proposals and come back in the future.

Your Lib Dem team running the Borough Council have made it clear that any suggestions that just generate more traffic and make getting round our area more of a misery are simply not acceptable.

That's why we have put in place policies that have stopped all greenfield housing development on the Hamble peninsula - a simple message of "No to Gridlock" in our area!
