David Chidgey, Liberal Democrat MP for Eastleigh is backing workers at APW in Chandler's Ford. He is demanding to know how some pensioners in the 1,000 member scheme have seen their pensions slashed by up to 80%. Mr Chidgey plans to question pensions minister, Malcolm Wicks, and take the case to the pensions ombudsman. Mr Chidgey said: "The issues is about the management of the pension fund and whether it has been mismanaged. The ombudsman has powers to see if the directors of the scheme have acted correctly and make them accountable.
