Upgrade Moorgreen Hospital

Mike said: “Moorgreen Hospital has been run down over the years as the NHS centralised services in Southampton.

“It is not good enough to expect sick and vulnerable residents in West End and Eastleigh to have to travel miles into Southampton when they have a facility on their doorstep that is woefully under-used.”

Your local Lib Dem team have campaigned for over 20 years to see more local health facilities, to avoid long journeys to the General Hospital.

We got the Borough Council to make sure land at the hospital site was protected so it could not all be sold off for housing. At long last, there are the first signs of a plan to make it happen.

The idea is that an undeveloped site (the “Donkey Field”) would in time see new, modern, hospital buildings built to replace most of the old buildings currently in use.
