Our MP Mike Thornton has kept his promise and stepped up the fight against Conservative plans for a gravel pit at Hamble Airfield. In March 2013, Mike has taken the case to a Public Inquiry, speaking up on behalf of local people against the Conservative's Hamble gravel pit plan.
Hampshire Conservative Bosses want to condemn our area to 15 years of extra traffic. Lorries travelling along the Hamble Lane every four minutes will create havoc for residents and destroy our marine industry.
Only the Liberal Democrat team, led by local campaigner Keith House, has fought tooth and nail alongside the local community on EVERY occasion to stop the gravel pits since the Conservatives launched their plan in 2006.
Hamble's MP Mike Thornton said,
“The plan for gravel pits would be hugely damaging to Hamble’s villages and our local economy.
“That’s why the Lib Dem team have fought these plans from the start. That’s why I’m taking this fight to Westminster as our MP.”
