The sky’s the limit for local businesses as they were treated to a key note speech from a former tornado fighter pilot at the seventh annual Eastleigh Business Conference, held at the Ageas Bowl.
Around 80 local business people attended the Conference and heard the inspirational key note speech from Mandy Hickson, an RAF ‘high flyer’.
Mandy inspired the audience with her experiences of being one of the first female pilots on the frontline in the Tornado GR4 squadron, flying multi-million pound fast jets for the Royal Air Force. Mandy recounted the importance of remaining calm under pressure and leading, quite literally, from the front, in order to get the best from herself and her team. She highlighted the importance of achieving your targets with a focused effort and that if you put your mind to something anything is achievable.
Delegates were also given an insight into the development of the Ageas Bowl by Chairman Rod Bransgrove who outlined some of the exciting plans for the future, including a new hotel complex and the establishment of Hampshire Cricket Community Trust.
Eastleigh MP, and a former Business and Development Manager, Mike Thornton delivered a speech and answered questions from local businesses during the conference. Mr Thornton praised the event, and was impressed by Mandy Hickson’s presentation.
Mike Thornton said, "The conference is a terrific opportunity for local businesses of all sizes in the borough to get first-class advice and support, as well as giving people the chance to build up contacts.
